Visit of the winery of castle Perelada: the story

When Miquel Mateu bought the castle of Perelada in 1923, one of his dreams was to renew with the ancient wine-making tradition of the XIVth century, when the Carmelite monks began to produce a renowned wine.

This was the beginning of the cellar "Château of Perelada", in the very heart of the Ampordan region, a priviledged geoclimatic conditions area thanks to the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea and the incredible heterogeneity of the soils.

The cellar counts with its own vineyard of 131 hectares and is nowadays a referency of charisma and prestige in our country.

Next to the wineries stands the "Convento del Carme", which houses the valuable art collection of the Mateu family, with extraordinary glass pieces, the magnificent library and the wine museum, with utensils that are testimony to the wine evolution through the ages.

Visit a cellar is one of the experiences we like to recommend to our customers ; visiting a cellar enables them to discover how wine is elaborated, the story and  history of the grapefruits and soils thanks to which the wine is created. 

The visit of the cellar includes a wine tasting to learn to recognize the differents flavors and aromas...moreover, the visit will take place in several vineyards for a richer experience of flavors and colors.

The visit of the vineyards can be a gratifying and genuine experience depending on the chosen kind of visit. It goes from an electric bike ride with wine-tasting through the vineyards to a pairing of typical tapas and wine or, for a richer and more elegant experience, a wine tasting during one of the musical events organized in the most famous vineyards of the cellar of Perelada.

Option B: Visit of the vineyards+barrels room+museum of the castle+tasting of 4 wines. Duration: 3h. Price:15€/ pers. 

Option C: Visit of the vineyards+ barrels room+museum of the castle+tasting of 4 wines+thermal circuit at Wine Spa Perelada. Duration: 5h. Price: 35 €/pers.

Option D: Lunch at Finca Malaveïna to enjoy an outdoor wine tasting. Duration: 2h30. Price: 35 € / person

 Option E: Discover Finca Garbet thanks to a "tapas" and wine pairing. Duration: 3h. Price: 50€/ pers.
