The Costa Brava hides some lovely medieval villages that you can tour and visit. Each of them has its own peculiarity and the best way to discover them is by walking in their streets.We selected some of our favorites for you:
- Pals: walking by the narrow streets of the village will immediatly transport you to medieval times. You will admire the vaults, horseshoe arches, romanesque and gothic gates and windows...It is still possible to see traces of its oldest inhabitants in its very stones, that were used to sculpt anthropomorphic graves before year 1000.
- Peratallada: The village, declared a historical-artistic complex and cultural asset of national interest is one of the most important places of Catalonia, regarding medieval architecture. Incredibly attractive and beautiful, the village still keeps its feodal structure with narrow and tortuous streets and various gates. Visiting the village will enable you to discover the various aspects of the castle and ramparts as well as its popular architecture set.
- Monells: This lovely village has a beautiful central square with arches. It has been built around its own castle whose walls only remain nowadays.
