This beach is situated in the very heart of the historical part of the village, often only called “la platja”, it has only be used as a beach from 1962. Before it served as the harbour of L’Escala, until the construction of the new one of La Clota. Parts of the ancient XVIIIth century moorings can still be seen.
Nowadays, it is the centre of all the celebrations or revelry taking place in the town such as Sardanas, the traditionnal Catalan dances. During the summer, popular and traditionnal activities take place on the beach such as the “Havaneras” songs festival, the “Triumvirat mediterrani”, the Anchovy Day and so on…
